Choosing a Photographer
There are a LOT of photographers out there. How do we know who to choose?
For us, it all comes down to personality. One of the best parts of our job is the relationships we develop with our couples. We love to spend time with them on engagement sessions, just hanging out and getting to know each other, catching those stolen kisses after the register is signed, and partying down at the reception. Finding a photographer with a good personality fit is key to a fun, stress-free wedding day. We encourage you to find a photographer that you will feel comfortable with, that you are able to talk to, and that you will not feel shy in front of. We also encourage you to look for a photographer that fits with your personal style. We meet with all of our couples to make sure we’re both on the same page.So, what is your photography style?
It’s difficult to categorize our style. We can sum it up in one word: love. The way we take our photographs is influenced by the experience with our clients. From funky flowers to intimate church weddings, snow angels to hanging out of trees, we use a modern mix of portrait and candid photography to document the personality of your wedding.
Our wedding isn’t until next summer, when should we book our photographer?
Our couples are the ones for whom photography is a priority. To make sure that you can book THE photographer that you want, you should start to look as soon as you have your date chosen. The popular dates will often book up over a year in advance.
We love you, we want you, how do we book you?
Give us a call. Once we see if your date is available we will meet you and find out about your wedding. If we decide that our personalities will be a good fit, and you’d like us to be your photographers, we require a signed contract and a retainer for half of the total package price.
Why do we need two photographers?
Technically, you don’t need two photographers. However, we are most creative when we can share ideas with another photographer. Having photographers brings two unique perspectives to your day. Having two photographers means having an extra pair of eyes to catch all the special and candid moments of your wedding.
Can we keep the digital negatives and print our own photos?
Yes, absolutely. This feature of our packages is very important to us. All of your printable digital negatives from the wedding day are included in wedding packages (not portrait sessions) and are burned on to DVDs and provided to you for your own home use for portrait sized prints and web images. We retain copyright of the photos so that we can use them for advertising, but you can make as many prints as you like!
Wedding Planning and Package Specifics
How many hours of photography coverage will we get with our package?
We don’t restrict you to an absolute number of hours of coverage. If you’re getting ready at 8:00 in the morning, we’ll be there (although we might need coffee)! Some photographers will limit your time to a specific number of hours. We design our packages around events such as the ceremony, reception, and getting ready, not the number of hours.
I don’t see a package with everything I want. Can I change them?
Absolutely. We carefully designed all of our packages, but sometimes they might not perfectly fit your needs. We can customize a package to fit exactly what you’re looking for.
How far will you travel for wedding photography?
We’ll go around the world. Wherever you go, we’ll go. Additional charges apply for weddings outside of Edmonton and area. We will discuss this at your consultation.
How do my family and friends view and order pictures?
It’s easy! Included in every package, we will give you a password protected website where your photos will be hosted for six months following your wedding.
How long should we budget for the formal pictures?
Ideally, formal photos with the family and bridal party will take about 1-2 hours. We would ideally like to have 1-2 hours to take photos of you, the couple. The more time you can budget, the more photos we can take!
Do we have to provide dinner for our photographers?
A well fed photographer is a happy photographer. While you are enjoying your wedding feast, relaxing and listening to speeches by family and friends, you will want us there to capture those moments. In order for us to be present during this time, we’ll need dinner – you don’t want us wandering off in search of food and missing the best man’s toast!
How long after the wedding will our photos and album be ready?
We will have some of our favourite pictures available to view on our blog within a few of days of your wedding. Before the wedding we will book a movie night where you can view your album design. Feel free to bring your friends and family to this fun and emotional evening! Once you’ve approved the album design we send it off for printing and you’ll get a finished product 6-8 weeks later.
When do we pay the final balance?
The final balance is due on your movie night when you view your wedding album design.
Wedding Planning and Package Specifics
We have questions about the set-up for the ceremony. Can we ask you for advice on what will work the best for pictures?
This is something we encourage. Most couples don’t have a lot of experience in planning their wedding with photography in mind. We can help you figure out how to pose your ceremony, registry signing, receiving line etc. to ensure you get the best photographs.
How long should we budget for the formal pictures?

Do we have to provide dinner for our photographers?
