Meagan & Kirk’s Ukrainian Wedding |

Meagan & Kirk’s wedding was the joining of two long-time Alberta families, with a Ukrainian wedding ceremony in Edmonton, and a large, fun reception in Vegreville!  Meagan and Kirk’s families homesteaded not to far from each other near Vegreville and now generations later have become joined through the marriage of this lovely couple.  It was an emotional day for a lot of reasons, but the absences of Meagan’s mom was felt very strongly.  Meagan exhibited a great deal of strength and grace and with Kirk by her side honoured her mom’s passing and made sure that she was included in the wedding celebrations. It’s so obvious that these two are an incredible team, and that they support each other.  That, combined with the support of two large strong families….these two will take on the world!!

Meagan & Kirk met in University playing volleyball together, and spent a lot of time together through Ukrainian parties and loved dancing together.  A couple of years later after a proposal in Belize, here we are!  Kirk’s three brothers were his groomsmen, and the boys have been dancers in the Ukrainian dance troupe Volya for years, and we were all thrilled by a couple of special performances by the group!

I want to thank them so much for including me in their wedding, we had a slightly rainy day exploring a few parts of Alberta, and I’m really excited to share these images!
